Today, the idea of gratitude dominates.
So, I’d like to share a quick story with you.
Just over five years ago an orthopedic surgeon sent me a DM…
“Hey, Erin. I found you on LinkedIn. You’re an executive coach? I’d like to speak further…”
I was ecstatic.
For a young certified coach, working with the upper echelon of intelligent people accelerates your learning curve.
This was a huge opportunity.
We scheduled time to speak further that week.
My training had prepared me, but I was fixated on my “newness” to the field of coaching.
My fear of embarrassment was exacerbated and my heart was literally beating in my ears.
Would the shakiness of my voice announce me as the newcomer I was…
…and slam the door to opportunity that had just flung open?
I held my breath to slow my heart rate.
When we spoke he paid no attention to my awkwardness over the phone.
He asked, “How do we do this?”
I laid out a plan for working together, with the premise that everything he needs is already within, I’d be guiding the discovery process, and the aha moments didn’t cost extra 😉 ~ and we wrapped up the meeting.
He took a deep breath and said, “I’m in!”
That moment when he made up his mind to trust in my abilities literally changed the trajectory of my entire coaching practice.
I am forever grateful to this person.
I appreciate all my clients who allow me a front row seat to their human transformation.
I treasure the time I spend with my children and am reminded it is because of my clients I am able to do this in a way my little ones deserve.
I am thankful for the opportunity to share my journey out loud, with the hope that my struggles remind you that you’re not alone.
And, I am thankful for all of you.
